On this page

01Get started

DMKaro sends an automatic, personal DM to everyone who comments a keyword on your Instagram post, Reel, Story or Live — or on your Facebook Page posts. It works through Meta's official API, so your account stays safe and you never share a password.

  1. 1Go to Sign up. Use Continue with Google or your email and a password, and tick the Terms box.
  2. 2If email verification is on, enter the code we email you (check Spam/Promotions if you can't see it).
  3. 3Connect your Instagram account (next section).
  4. 4Before your first automation we may ask for your mobile number once — enter it, type the OTP and you're done. We never ask again.

02Connect Instagram

You need an Instagram Professional account (Creator or Business). Switching is free: Instagram app → profile → ☰ → Settings and privacy → Account type and tools → Switch to professional account. A Facebook Page is not needed.

  1. 1Open Instagram Auto-DM in the sidebar and tap Connect Instagram.
  2. 2Log in on Instagram's own page and tap Allow. Keep all permissions on — they let us read comments and send the DM.
  3. 3You're back in DMKaro with the account connected. Create an automation right away.
Selected workspace
If you connect several accounts, the one you pick in the sidebar switcher is where new automations are created.
Needs reconnect
Instagram access expires if you change your password or remove the app in Instagram settings. Tap Reconnect — automations and contacts stay.
Disconnect
Stops all replies for that account and deletes its automations, contacts and stats.

03Connect a Facebook Page

Facebook Page comments can get an instant Messenger reply, with the same keywords and buttons. You must be an admin of the Page (full control or task access with messaging).

  1. 1Open Facebook Auto-DM → Continue with Facebook.
  2. 2Log in, then choose the Pages you want to automate and allow the permissions.
  3. 3Back in DMKaro, tick the Pages to connect. Each Page counts as one account on your plan.
Your plan's account limit counts Instagram accounts and Facebook Pages together. If the button says “Upgrade”, pick a plan with more accounts.

04Your first automation

An automation is one rule: when someone does X, send them Y. The builder has four short steps:

  1. 1Post — tap the post or Reel people will comment on. You can also choose Any post (all your posts) or Next post (the next one you publish).
  2. 2Trigger — Specific keyword (e.g. LINK, PRICE, GUIDE — Hinglish, caps and emojis work) or All comments.
  3. 3Message — pick a template or write your own DM, add buttons, product cards or a file, and optional variations.
  4. 4Go live — review and switch it on. Test it by commenting the keyword from another account.
The DM arrives in the commenter's Requests folder if they don't follow you yet — that's normal on Instagram.

05Triggers explained

Post or Reel comments
Someone comments your keyword under a post or Reel. They get one private reply (DM) per comment.
Story replies
Someone replies to your Story with the keyword (Pro).
DM keyword
Someone sends you a DM containing the keyword (Pro). Great for “DM me LINK” calls to action.
Live comments
Viewers comment the keyword during an Instagram Live (Business).
Keyword match
“Contains” matches the word anywhere in the comment; “Exact” needs the whole comment to be the keyword; “Any comment” replies to everyone.
Chat links
Share ig.me/m/yourname?ref=LINK (or m.me for Pages) — opening it starts the matching DM-keyword automation.

06Messages, buttons & variations

Opening message
An optional first message with a button (e.g. “Send me the link”). The final message is sent when they tap it — this keeps the chat open and lets you add follow-to-unlock.
Final message
The message with your link. Add up to 3 link buttons, up to 10 swipeable product cards, or a file/image.
Variations
Write up to 4 versions of a message; each person gets one at random so your DMs don't all look identical.
Public reply
An optional reply under the comment (e.g. “Check your DM 📩”). Add several variants — we rotate them.
Tracked links
Links in buttons are tracked, so you can see clicks per automation.
Branding
On the Free plan a short “Sent via DMKaro” line is added at the end of DMs. Paid plans can remove it.

07Follow-to-unlock

Turn on Ask to follow first in the message step. People who don't follow you get a friendly “follow first” message with Visit profile and I'm following buttons. When they tap I'm following, Instagram confirms the follow and the link unlocks. (Instagram only.)

08Collect emails & phones

Turn on Collect email (Pro) and choose email, phone, or either. We ask in the chat, check the format, and save it to Contacts, where you can export a CSV any time.

09Chat tools

Open Instagram Auto-DM or Facebook Auto-DM → Chat tools:

Spam filter
Auto-hide comments with links or words you block. Hidden comments stay visible to their author only.
Default reply
When a DM matches none of your keywords, send this once per person per day.
Ice breakers
Up to 4 tappable questions shown when someone opens a new chat with you, each with its own answer.
Chat menu & welcome
Up to 3 link buttons pinned in every chat's menu; for Pages also the Messenger greeting and Get Started welcome.

10Contacts & analytics

Contacts lists everyone your automations talked to, whether they follow you, and any email/phone they shared. Analytics shows comments matched, DMs sent, link clicks, new followers and leads, per automation and over time.

11Limits & safety

Comment DMs
Instagram allows about 750 private replies per hour per account. Extra comments wait in our queue and go out next hour, so nobody is missed.
Chat replies
Replies to people who DM you first use a much higher limit — another reason “DM me LINK” works well for viral posts.
One DM per comment
Each comment gets one private reply; the 24-hour messaging window applies to follow-ups.
Your password
Never shared. Access tokens are encrypted and deleted when you disconnect or delete your account.
Only send people what they asked for. Spam or misleading offers can get your Instagram account restricted by Meta.

12Plans & billing

Plans are prepaid in INR (UPI, cards, net-banking) — no auto-debit. Extending adds time to the end of your current plan. We email you 2 days before a plan ends and again on the day it ends. After expiry you move to the Free plan; your automations and contacts stay saved.

13Troubleshooting

DM didn't arrive
Check the commenter's Requests folder; make sure the automation is Live, the keyword matches, and you're not testing from the same account that runs the automation.
“Insufficient developer role”
Shown while our Meta app is in review — only invited test accounts can connect. It disappears once the app is approved.
Private account commenter
Private accounts can still receive the DM; it lands in Requests if they don't follow you and their message settings allow requests.
Mobile OTP not received
Wait 30 seconds and tap Resend. Check the number has 10 digits and SMS is not blocked.
Facebook Page not listed
You must be a Page admin, and tick that Page in the Facebook login screen. Log in again to add more Pages.

14API & AI agents (MCP)

MCP server for AI agents Coming soon

MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets AI assistants like Claude or ChatGPT use DMKaro for you — for example “create a LINK automation on my latest Reel” or “how many leads did I get this week?”. You'll create a personal access key in Settings and paste it into your AI app. We'll announce it here.
